Sky Show

I got up this morning and couldn't help but get some shots of the northern lights! It was a great show!

Nice night!

What a cold day it was today. Definately not as nice an evening as it was last night. Here is a shot I took of the moon as the sun was going down.

The Moon

I was out last night and took this great shot of the Moon with a 400mm lens without a tripod. I think it came out great!

The Joys of Astronomy!

What an early morning (4:00am)! One of the things I have always enjoyed is astronomy. Many nights I have sat at the telescope eyepiece viewing everything from other planets to distant galaxies. I can still remember the nights I watched Haley's comet. The only time in my lifetime that I will see it before it returns on it's orbit around the sun in 2062.

This morning I had to have a look at the alignment of Saturn, the Moon and Venus. The viewing was great! The sky was crystal clear and still. Just perfect for us astronomers. I got a few photos of the three with my 500mm lens but Saturn is too small on the image to post it here where you could see it online. It will be another 25 years (2032) before they will line up again like that. I can't wait...

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and enjoy the turkey!
